The nine paths of the Enneagram

Nine types, three centers and your wing. Discover which path resonates most with you — with original names and honest caveats.

The Enneagram describes nine personality types, organized into three centers — instinctive, emotional and mental. This test measures your affinity with each of the nine and shows your dominant type, your wing (the neighbor that most colors it) and your center. Important: the Enneagram has limited scientific validation and comes from self-knowledge traditions, not from psychometrics. There are 36 statements; the result is a mirror to reflect with, not a diagnosis.

Territory of Paths · Enneagram

You in the symbol

Each dot is a type, in the classic Enneagram position. The size shows how much each path resonates with you; the filled dot is your dominant type.

The nine types, in order

Quanto mais à direita, mais aquele caminho ressoa com você — em relação aos demais.

The three centers

Os nove tipos se agrupam em três centros, cada um com uma lente principal para processar o mundo: o corpo (instinto), o coração (emoção) e a cabeça (pensamento).

You across life areas

How the path that resonates most with you tends to show up in daily life — what to lean into and what to balance. A lens for reflection, of limited scientific validation; never a verdict.

How it's calculated — and the basis of the Enneagram

The Enneagram describes nine types of personality, each with a core motive (an underlying desire and fear) and its own patterns. The nine organize into three centers — instinctive (body), emotional (heart) and mental (head) — and each type has two wings, the neighbors that color it. The symbol also traces lines of growth and stress between the types.

Here, you answer 36 statements (4 per type) and we measure your affinity with each path. We apply centering (subtracting your average) to reveal the type that resonates most relative to the others; the wing is the stronger neighbor, and the center is your type's triad. We use original names and items, inspired by the traditional structure — we don't reproduce any branded Enneagram descriptions.

Scientific validation · limitedUnlike the Big Five, the Enneagram has little scientific validation: academic reviews (Hook et al., 2021) find mixed evidence, and the nine-type structure doesn't replicate consistently in factor analyses. It comes from self-knowledge traditions, not from psychometrics. Treat it as a mirror to reflect with — not as a truth about who you are.
Original names · no trademarksThe names of the nine types (The Improver, The Nurturer…) and the items are our own. We don't reproduce protected Enneagram descriptions, names or questionnaires. The structure (nine types, centers, wings, lines) is public tradition.
Important · read firstA tool for self-knowledge and personal development; it does not replace a formal psychological assessment by a licensed professional. The result is an estimate, not a diagnosis.

Author's note

The Enneagram leaves me torn: I love how it talks about the motivations behind behavior, but the scientific base is weak — and I wasn't going to hide that from you. I kept the test because it sparks good conversations with yourself, as long as you read it as a mirror and never as a verdict.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Enneagram have a scientific basis?

Little. Academic reviews (such as Hook et al., 2021) point to limited, mixed validation — unlike the Big Five, which comes from decades of research. The Enneagram arises from self-knowledge traditions. Use it as a mirror to reflect, not as a truth about you.

What are the wing and the center?

The wing is the neighboring type that most colors yours (e.g., type 4 with a 5 wing). The center is the triad your type belongs to — instinctive, emotional or mental — which indicates the main lens through which you deal with the world.

Can I identify with several types?

Yes, and it's common. Almost no one is "pure": you usually have a dominant type and traits of others. That's why we show your full profile across the nine, not just one number.

Is it free?

Yes, 100% free, no sign-up and no email. The result appears instantly and is saved only in your browser.

How long does it take?

About 7 minutes. There are 36 statements on a 1-to-5 scale.
